Terms of Service
These terms apply when you use the PDFPipe website, dashboard, API, SDK, or MCP server. By creating an account or calling the API you agree to them.
Last updated: 23 August 2026
1. The service
PDFPipe fetches a PDF from a URL you provide and returns its contents in the format you ask for: the text layer as JSON, text, Markdown, XML, or CSV; the original bytes as Base64 or binary; or a render of the first page as PNG, JPG, or WebP. It handles PDFs served inline and PDFs served as downloads, including redirect chains and JavaScript-triggered downloads.
It does not perform OCR, so scanned or image-only PDFs return no text. It does not detect tables or layout. It does not send cookies, headers, or credentials to the source, so PDFs that require a login are not supported. The documentation describes exactly what each format contains; please rely on that rather than on any assumption.
2. Your account
You must give a valid email address and keep your password and API keys secret. You are responsible for everything done with your keys. If a key leaks, revoke it in the dashboard immediately. You can restrict each key to specific IP addresses.
Business accounts can invite team members. The account owner is responsible for the members they invite.
3. Plans, limits, and billing
Each plan has a monthly request quota, a maximum PDF size, a set of available formats, a result retention window, and other limits listed on the pricing page. Every conversion request counts as one request, whether it succeeds or not once processing has started, and whether the PDF is inline or an attachment. The Free plan has an additional cap of 25 attachment PDFs per month.
Quotas reset on the first day of each month. On Free, Starter, and Pro, requests beyond the quota are rejected until the next month. On Business, requests beyond the quota are billed at the overage rate shown on the pricing page.
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe in USD, GBP, or EUR. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the dashboard; changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. If a payment fails we will email you and may suspend the account until it is resolved. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
We may change prices or plan limits. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a price increase affects an existing subscription.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use PDFPipe to:
- Fetch documents you do not have the right to access or process.
- Circumvent access controls, paywalls, or bot protection on any website.
- Probe, scan, or attack PDFPipe or any host reachable through it, including attempts to reach private networks (which the API blocks).
- Process content that is illegal or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Resell the service or share one account's keys across unrelated organisations.
- Place unreasonable load on the service outside the published limits.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. We will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
5. Your content
You own the PDFs you submit and the output you receive. You give us only the permission needed to fetch, convert, store temporarily, and return them to you. We do not use your documents to train models. How long we keep output and metadata is set out in the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Agreement.
6. Availability and support
We work to keep PDFPipe running and publish incidents on the status page, but we do not offer an uptime guarantee or service-level agreement on any plan. Support is by email at support@pdfpipe.dev and through the contact form. Paid plans also include the Dashboard AI Help assistant, which is a convenience and not a substitute for the documentation.
Whether a given PDF can be fetched depends on the host serving it. Hosts that require a login, block automated clients, or serve scanned images will produce errors or empty text. That is expected behaviour, not a fault in the service.
7. Warranties and liability
PDFPipe is provided as is. We do not promise that the output will be complete or accurate for any particular document, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that it will fit a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings, which cancels any subscription. We can close your account for breach of these terms, for non-payment, or if we discontinue the service, in which case we will give reasonable notice where we can. Sections 5, 7, and 9 survive termination.
9. General
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes will be heard in the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may update these terms; the date at the top will change and significant changes will be announced by email or on the updates page. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
